Culture Club
Culture club is a 40 minute session held once a month with our
Indigenous Teacher Aide. The sessions
are held on the last Friday of the month during the middle session. Attendance is voluntary. If students do not want to attend or are
unable to attend due to sporting or classroom work commitments it is acceptable
for them not to attend.
At Culture Club many relevant student issues are discussed and issues that are symbolic to Indigenous people
as in Mabo Day and NAIDOC
celebrations. From time to time there
are also visits organised with special guests. Games from different Indigenous regions throughout Queensland are played
and different Indigenous artefacts are presented.
Chaplain
The State Government Chaplaincy/Pastoral Care Funding Program was introduced in Queensland state primary and secondary schools in 2007 to assist school communities to provide supportive school environments for students. Chappy Ros Parker works in the school 2 days a week. Ros provides additional social, emotional and/or spiritual support to students and/or staff as well as enhancing engagement with the broader community including parents. If you would like to donate to this program you can do so through the school or through Scripture Union (SU).
